Two tools for tracking your Amazon variation families.

Amazon groups related products, colors, sizes, styles, into a single listing with a swatch selector. When that grouping comes apart, the affected ASINs show up as separate, unlinked listings. CentralDesk includes two tools for this: one that looks for listings that may need to be grouped, and one that tracks families you've already confirmed and flags it when a member is no longer part of the group.

Find listings that may need to be grouped.

Variation Scan looks at your standalone listings and groups the ones whose titles are close matches. That pattern, near-identical titles with no shared parent, is a common sign that a variation family has come apart, or was never grouped in the first place.

Title-based matching

Variation Scan compares product titles across your standalone listings and groups the ones that match closely, whether that's an identical title or a strong near-match with a size or color differing at the end.

Nothing happens automatically

A title match is a candidate, not a confirmed relationship. Each finding includes a button to open a ticket asking for the grouping to be reviewed and made in Seller Central. Nothing changes on Amazon until that ticket is worked.

Titles have to be close

Variation Scan works by comparing titles. If two listings belong in the same family but their titles look nothing alike, the scan won't connect them. That's what the Detwisting Monitor's manual family definition is for.

Track the families you've already confirmed.

The Advanced Variation Detwisting Monitor tracks variation families on an ongoing basis, whether CentralDesk identified the family automatically or you defined it directly, and flags it when a member is no longer part of the group.

Doesn't depend on titles

The Detwisting Monitor tracks the actual relationship between listings rather than comparing titles, so it covers families Variation Scan can't connect, including ones where the product names look nothing alike.

Paste in the ASINs

You can tell CentralDesk directly which ASINs make up a family by pasting them in. CentralDesk records that group and monitors it going forward, independent of title matching.

Tickets without a manual step

Once a family is being tracked, if one or more ASINs no longer show as part of the group, CentralDesk can open a ticket on its own. Automatic ticket creation is an opt-in setting per account.

Both tools are included in every plan.

Common questions about variation monitoring.

No. Twisting or merging listings into a variation family is a manual Seller Central action. CentralDesk can open a ticket asking for that work to be done, but it does not make the change itself.
It compares product titles. An identical title across listings is treated as a high-confidence match. A title that matches closely, differing only by a size or color at the end, is treated as a near match. Both are surfaced for review, not acted on automatically.
Variation Scan is title-based and won't connect them. The Advanced Variation Detwisting Monitor doesn't rely on titles: you can paste in the ASINs directly, and CentralDesk will track that group going forward regardless of how the product names compare.
It records the family's status in your account. If automatic tickets are turned on for the account, it opens a ticket the first time the family goes from intact to broken. It does not open a new ticket every day the same issue remains.
Yes. Automatic ticket creation is an opt-in setting per account. Without it, the Detwisting Monitor still tracks family status and shows it in your account; tickets simply aren't opened without a manual step.
